The Y-type slurry valve is a robust, wear-resistant valve designed specifically for handling abrasive, viscous, and solid-laden fluids. Featuring an angled Y-pattern body, this valve ensures smoother flow paths with minimal resistance and clogging—ideal for slurry service in harsh industrial environments. It is engineered in compliance with ASME B16.34, with reduced bore design and face-to-face dimensions customizable based on user requirements. Common material options include ASTM A216 WCB, ASTM A105-HF, and stainless steel trims to withstand corrosion and abrasion.
This valve is typically available in manual (handwheel), gear-operated, or electric-actuated versions, and supports pressure classes from Class 150 up to Class 600. The sealing structure and replaceable seat/disc design facilitate reliable operation and easy maintenance.
The left and right valve bodies are of separate type, and the valve seat is positioned between the two halves. By loosening the bolts connecting the two valve bodies, the seat can be removed and replaced. The valve cavity is equipped with an anti-wear and corrosion-resistant protective layer. When the valve is opened, the seat is shielded to minimize erosion. The valve body undergoes electroless nickel plating (N.P.) surface treatment, achieving hardness of HRC60–62, providing excellent wear and corrosion resistance.
The valve seat and sealing surface are surfacing welded with stellite or tungsten carbide to ensure a durable sealing line and reduce surface damage. The structure includes anti-rotation features to prevent the valve stem from rotating, allowing only linear motion during opening and closing. This ensures longer service life and sealing integrity.
Valve drive types: manual, gear, electric, pneumatic.

Y-type slurry valves are commonly used in:
Alumina production: handling alkaline aluminum oxide slurry
Mining and mineral processing: controlling the flow of ores, slurry tailings, and flotation agents
Thermal power plants: conveying pulverized coal ash and slag discharge
Chemical and paper industries: dealing with thick pulp, chemical sludge, and other abrasive fluids
Coal-fired systems: transferring high-density, high-temperature ash and slurry
Their rugged construction and Y-body design make them particularly suitable for any service involving erosive media under high pressure and elevated temperatures (up to 425°C).
