    A control valve solution connects the working condition with the correct valve type, body material, trim design, actuator, positioner, leakage class, pressure rating and RFQ data. For industrial projects, the solution should also consider industry service, process medium, pressure drop, temperature, cavitation, noise, corrosion and maintenance risk.

    Start from the process environment. Oil and gas projects often focus on pressure regulation, shutoff reliability and material compliance. Chemical plants require corrosion resistance. Power plants need steam, high temperature and pressure reducing control. Water treatment systems often need stable liquid control, cavitation protection and easy maintenance.

    A control valve should be treated as severe service when high pressure drop, cavitation, flashing, aerodynamic noise, corrosive media, high temperature, slurry, erosive particles, vibration or frequent trim damage may affect safety and service life. These conditions usually require special trim, material selection and more detailed sizing review.

    Globe control valves and angle control valves are commonly used for high pressure drop, anti-cavitation, low noise and high temperature service because they can support cage trim, multi-stage pressure reduction and stable throttling. V-port control ball valves or special trim designs may be considered for slurry and erosive service depending on the medium.

    Prepare the medium, flow rate, inlet pressure, outlet pressure, operating temperature, pipe size, pressure class, connection standard, body material preference, leakage requirement, actuator type, control signal and fail position. For severe service, also provide particle content, vapor pressure, noise limit or corrosion data when available.

    Yes. Cv helps estimate valve flow capacity and avoid obvious oversizing or undersizing. However, Cv alone is not enough for final selection. The final control valve solution should also check pressure drop ratio, cavitation, choked flow, noise, trim style, actuator force, material compatibility and application duty.

    Yes. Many real projects belong to both groups. For example, a power plant steam pressure reducing valve may also be a low noise or high temperature control valve.
