For accurate globe valve selection, please send your working medium, pipe size, pressure class, inlet and outlet pressure, flow rate or Cv requirement, pressure drop, working temperature, body material, trim and seat material, end connection, operation method, leakage class and required standards or certificates.
Globe valve selection should start with the actual throttling, flow regulation, shutoff or pressure control duty, not only pipe size. Media, pressure class, working temperature, Cv requirement, pressure drop, body pattern, trim design, sealing method, end connection, operation method and project standards all affect the final globe valve configuration.
Start with the medium, flow direction and service purpose. Steam, condensate, boiler feedwater, thermal oil, water, gas, chemical liquid, oxygen service and corrosive fluids may require different globe valve materials, trim choices, packing designs and leakage requirements. Globe valves are commonly reviewed when the pipeline needs reliable shutoff plus more accurate throttling than a general on-off valve.

Confirm the working pressure, pressure class, inlet and outlet pressure, operating temperature, required flow rate, Cv value and expected pressure drop before selecting a globe valve. For modulating service, also check minimum and maximum flow, cavitation or flashing risk, noise limit and shutoff class so the valve is not oversized or undersized for real operating conditions.

Match the globe valve structure to the pipeline layout and flow requirement. Straight pattern or T-pattern globe valves suit general throttling and shutoff duties, Y pattern globe valves can help reduce flow resistance in higher-pressure service, angle globe valves change flow direction in compact piping, and bellows seal globe valves are reviewed for steam, thermal oil, toxic media or fugitive emission control.

An industrial globe valve is a linear-motion valve used to start, stop and regulate flow in a pipeline. A handwheel, gear operator or actuator moves the stem up and down, lifting or lowering the disc or plug against a stationary seat ring. When the disc lifts, media passes through the controlled opening. When the disc moves toward the seat, the valve can throttle flow or shut off the line. This design gives globe valves strong flow regulation performance for steam, water, oil, gas, chemical, power and process service, although the directional flow path creates higher pressure drop than straight-through valves.

Linear Stem Movement: The handwheel, gear, pneumatic actuator or electric actuator moves the stem and disc vertically through controlled linear travel.
Controlled Open Position: As the disc lifts away from the seat, the opening area increases and the valve can regulate flow according to travel, Cv and pressure drop.
Closed Sealing Position: When the disc or plug presses against the seat ring, the flow path is blocked for dependable pipeline shutoff.
Body Pattern Matching: Straight pattern, T-pattern, Y pattern, angle, bellows seal, cast steel, forged steel and globe control valves are selected by service duty.
Manual or Automated Service: Globe valves can support handwheel operation, geared operation, pneumatic control, electric control and automated process regulation.
Globe valves are widely selected for throttling, flow regulation and pressure control because disc travel can be adjusted through the valve stroke.
Flow rate, Cv value, inlet pressure, outlet pressure and pressure drop can be reviewed to avoid oversized or undersized globe valve selection.
Available options include straight pattern globe valves, Y pattern globe valves, angle globe valves, bellows seal globe valves and globe control valves.
Handwheel, gear, pneumatic actuator, electric actuator, positioner and control accessories can support local operation or automated plant systems.
Plug disc, needle disc, parabolic plug, cage guided trim, stainless steel trim, 13Cr trim and Stellite hardfaced trim can be reviewed by service condition.
Cast steel, forged steel, carbon steel, stainless steel, alloy steel, graphite packing, PTFE packing and bellows seal options can match media and temperature.
Globe valve configurations can be reviewed according to API 623, API 602, API 598, ASME B16.34, EN, DIN, JIS and project specifications.
Drawings, datasheets, Cv or flow data, certificates, inspection records and test reports can support globe valve approval and purchasing work.

Quick answers for industrial buyers comparing globe valve types, throttling service, Cv requirements, pressure drop, bellows seal options, actuators and quotation details.
A globe valve is used to start, stop and regulate flow in a pipeline. It is commonly selected for throttling, flow regulation, pressure control and dependable shutoff in steam, water, oil, gas, chemical, power generation and process utility systems.
Globe valves use linear stem travel to move a disc or plug toward a stationary seat. This lets the valve opening change gradually, making it easier to control flow rate, Cv and pressure drop than many simple on-off valve designs.
A globe valve is normally reviewed for throttling and controlled flow service. A gate valve is usually reviewed for full-open or full-closed isolation where low flow resistance is important. Final selection depends on pressure drop, control accuracy, media and installation conditions.
Straight pattern and T-pattern globe valves are used for general shutoff and regulation, Y pattern globe valves can reduce flow resistance in higher-pressure service, angle globe valves suit compact piping turns, and globe control valves support modulating process control.
A bellows seal globe valve is usually reviewed for steam, thermal oil, toxic media, volatile chemicals or services where fugitive emission control and stem leakage reduction are important. Material selection still depends on media, temperature, pressure and cycling frequency.
Yes. Globe valves can be supplied with pneumatic actuators, electric actuators, positioners, limit switches, solenoid valves and other control accessories for remote operation, modulating control and plant automation systems.
Common globe valve standards include API 623 for steel globe valves, API 602 for compact forged steel valves, API 598 for valve inspection and testing, and ASME B16.34 for pressure-temperature requirements. EN, DIN, JIS, ISO 5208 and EN 12266 can also be reviewed by project requirement.
Please provide valve type, size, pressure class, temperature, media, flow rate or Cv, inlet and outlet pressure, pressure drop, body and trim material, end connection, operation method, leakage class, quantity and any required standards, certificates or test reports.
